If you are facing dental extractions or have missing teeth, you might be wondering if you are a candidate for dental implants for tooth replacement. Most patients can qualify for dental implant treatment, but may require additional procedures such as bone grafting or sinus lifts to ensure the proper results.

We use 3-D cone beam technology to get a clear view of your bone health, dentistry, and location of your teeth so that Dr. Finney can effectively plan your dental implant placement based on the most accurate information available.

Aside from certain medications or health conditions, nothing else should stand in your way when it comes to dental implant treatment. Since we place and restore dental implants right here in our Bloomington, IN dental office, you can count on convenience and great results.

Dental implants are the most lifelike tooth replacement available. They even offer health benefits such as bone retention and bite protection. If you have multiple missing teeth, we can use dental implants to replace all your teeth, or we can use them in tandem with dentures to give you great results.

For patients who need a little extra help relaxing, we offer three types of sedation dentistry to make your treatment a relaxing experience.

Nitrous oxide sedation – Also known as laughing gas, nitrous oxide is the mildest form of sedation and enters and leaves your body quickly so you can resume normal activities right away.

Oral sedation dentistry – Prescription medication with doses based on your medical needs, body type, and history with medication will eliminate anxiety and help you relax. You will feel a little groggy after treatment and will need a ride home.

IV sedation – We work closely with an anesthesiologist in order to provide IV sedation, our highest level of relaxation, right here in our Bloomington, IN dental office.

Did you know that sometimes jaw pain and headaches are related due to a condition known as temporomandibular joint dysfunction, or TMJ?

TMJ or TMJD is a broad description for a wide range of jaw-related issues. Some of the symptoms can include:

  • Clicking joints
  • Popping joints
  • Inability to open or close your jaw completely
  • Headaches
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Insomnia
  • Migraines
  • Ringing in the ears (tinnitus)
  • Teeth wear and fractures
  • Sensitivity to cold temperatures
  • Gum recession
  • Bony growths under your tongue (tori)

Symptoms may come and go. For women, symptoms can be hormone related. Research shows a relationship between hormone levels and jaw pain. However, jaw disorders can affect both men and women. While many patients attribute it to stress, sometimes the cause goes much deeper.

We have the latest technology in our Bloomington, IN dental office to assist with the accurate diagnosis and treatment planning of a wide array of jaw disorders. We use splint therapy, occlusal equilibration (minute changes to your dentistry to change the way your bite comes together), and orthodontics to get you the relief you need to get a great night’s sleep and feel more comfortable throughout the day.

If you have a nighttime clenching and grinding habit, we can help with that, too! Wearing a nightguard can protect your teeth and prevent fractures and premature wear.
